By Matt Smith
This is a belated edition, but I couldn’t do it until the UNC/Duke game. I will get back on track and have the next update done by Sunday or Monday.
1. Memphis (22-0): Survived a rare conference scare against UTEP and then thumped SMU.
2. Duke (20-1): Going to the Dean Dome and winning is huge. This team is for real.
3. UCLA (20-2): They have a big week coming up and they looked good in dismantling Arizona.
4. Kansas (22-1): They have bounced back well since losing the in-state battle.
5. North Carolina (21-2): A healthy Lawson makes them better, but it’s not the end of the world to lose to the No. 2 ranked team in the country.
6. Georgetown (19-2): Impressively rolling through the Big East.
7. Tennessee (20-2): The Vols offense was clicking against Florida.
8. Wisconsin (19-3): Are the Badgers the cream of the crop in the Big Ten?
9. Drake (21-1): Probably a little higher than they should be. So what? Wanna fight about it?
10. Stanford (18-3): I guess the Fighting Trees are pretty good.
11. Butler (20-2): Do you think this is Benson’s favorite team?
12. Michigan State (19-3): They confuse me by losing to teams like Penn State and Iowa.
13. Texas (18-4): They really enjoy winning close games.
14. Indiana (18-3): Are they good? Really? I’m not too sure…. yet.
15. Xavier (18-4): They Muskateers have gotten on a heck of a roll.
16. Purdue (18-5): The streak is now up to eight straight wins.
17. Connecticut (17-5): Now Eli can shut up because his Huskies are ranked in my poll.
18. Notre Dame (17-4): Luke Harangody is still really ugly and Kyle McAlarney really likes pot.
19. Washington State (17-4): The Cougars were overrated to begin with.
20. Texas A&M (19-4): The Aggies have righted the ship.
21. Kansas State (16-5): A big win versus Kansas then a disappointing loss to Missouri equals to the Wildcats staying right where they were.
22. Marquette (16-5): I still haven’t figured this team out yet.
23. Pittsburg (17-5): This one either.
24. Rhode Island (19-3): The Rams are back. The A-10 isn’t as good as I thought, but it’s still decent.
25. St. Mary’s (19-3): I guess it’s time to give the Gaels some love, but the loss to San Diego concerns me, plus athletic teams like Southern Illinois and Texas ran right by them. Beating Gonzaga gives them the nod at No. 25.

I hate Georgetown, especially with the big east being as tight as it is. They should have lost 3 Big East games (UConn, Cuse and WVU) which would put them at 16-5 overall and 6-4 in the conference (bad shape). UConn, despite my bias, should have beat Georgetown, be 8-2 in the conference and tied with ND for first. So Georgetown can go to hell. By the way, UConn plays ND again next week, and they played them close the first time, I see a UConn victory if they can ride this win streak a little farther. Six in a row and counting!
no one likes Georgetown! No likes anyone named Ewing except the strippers he goes and drops 10 large on. Oh and when he used to choke in big games. So I guess you could say Ewing Jr. has a lot to live up to. No likes JT III's porn stache. Allen Iverson probably wants to forget about his high box fade and crcking a chair over someon's head at that bowling alley.
I know Memphis beat a tough, Hardaway-less UTEP and all, but Duke beat UNC at the Dean Dome. That sounds a lot more impressive...Matt.
